THR 431 - Langauge, Character & Action Course unit(s): 1 Prerequisite(s): THR 250 Acting Process Exercises in creating character through observation, mimicry and physical work are taught, providing techniques to create characters of different physicality temperament, status and age. Then a study of a sample of British playwrights that tend to rely on the strong vocabulary of their characters with sophisticated or complex points of view; the text is crucial to the action. Scenes are done to put all the lessons together. Playwrights Shaw, Wilde, Coward and others are used. A co-teacher is brought in to help with voice and speech.
