PHL 258 - Coloniality & Catastrophe Course unit(s): 1 Meets GAR: Meets general academic requirement HU and DE. This course explores the relationship between coloniality, ecology and disaster. Students will examine a variety of theoretical and literary sources that deploy or refute tropes of the “end of the world” while also exploring what makes a disaster man-made or natural. Here the past, present and future will be critically interrogated. Readings will include works by Aime Cesaire, Frantz Fanon, Anibal Quijano, as well as Jane Gordon and Lewis Gordon.
