PHL 105 - Conduct & Character Course unit(s): 1 Meets GAR: Meets general academic requirement HU. An introduction to philosophical ethics. Students explore standards of ethical conduct, principles of fairness, moral virtue, and human well-being. Questions examined include: how should we understand and define the notion of right action? What makes a distribution fair or just? What constitutes human well-being? What are the core elements of virtues like compassion, gratitude, empathy, and altruism? How do such virtues support and enhance human flourishing?
