SOC 340 - Development & Social Change Course unit(s): 1 Meets GAR: Meets general academic requirement SL. Prerequisite(s): SOC 101 - Introduction to Sociology . This course analyzes development from a sociological perspective. It examines different theoretical models for understanding macro-level social change, such as modernization theory, dependency theory, and world-systems theory. Possible topics for exploration include the environment, economic development, revolution, urbanization, population, and poverty. Taught every other year.
