ECN 245, 246 - Environmental Economics Course unit(s): 1 Meets GAR: Meets general academic requirement W when offered as 246. Prerequisite(s): ECN 101 Principles of Macroeconomics or ECN 102 Principles of Microeconomics . This course explores the relationship between the economy and the environment. Mainstream economic theories and policies will be analyzed from a critical and American policy perspective. The impact of externalities, social costs, property rights, market controls, government regulations, economic development on environmental protection will be analyzed. Other topics covered will include accounting for pollution and resource depletion in GDP statistics, cost-benefit analysis, population, and sustainable development.
