DNC 275 - Anatomy & Kinesiology for Dancers Course unit(s): 1 Prerequisite(s): BIO 102 Concepts of Biology: Biology of Movement or BIO 165 From Ecosystems to Organisms . This course examines the science of human motion with particular emphasis on the biomechanics of dance. Course content covers the human skeletal system; joint biomechanics relevant to dance; muscle origin, insertion, and action; and the role gravity plays in muscle action. Analysis of physical structure, function, and dynamic alignment as they relate to performance enhancement and injury prevention are investigated.
