PHL 327, 337 - Philosophy of Language1 course unit A study of major movements in twentieth century philosophy arising out of the study of language and meaning. This “linguistic turn” in philosophy includes logical atomism, logical positivism, ordinary language philosophy, and deconstruction. Readings will be drawn from the work of Russell, Wittgenstein, Ayer, Dummett, Quine, and Derrida. Prerequisite(s): Any previous course in philosophy. Meets general academic requirement W when offered as 337.
