ARS 214 - Printmaking II: Screenprint Course unit(s): 1 Meets Explore Core requirement (students beginning Fall 2024 and later): CE Prerequisite(s): ARS 110 Printmaking I , ARS 111 Printmaking & the Book , or permission of the instructor Screenprint is the technique of printing on paper, fabric, and many other surfaces using a mesh screen and stencils. In this course students will experiment with a wide variety of techniques to make work ranging from crisp computer-generated graphics to images developed through painterly layers of color. Students will take inspiration from a wide range of contemporary artists to create their own prints. We will discuss the history of the medium, from pop art to new ecologically friendly practices. Students will develop their conceptual interests through a connected series of images, while acquiring significant skill in the medium.
