Study Abroad/Domestic Programs
Muhlenberg College encourages students in all majors and minors to study overseas at quality institutions around the world. Our list of approximately 140 approved programs in 60 countries enables students to engage in the academic and social life of host institutions abroad. In addition, almost all of the approved programs provide opportunities for integrative and experiential learning, internships, research projects, or field work that engages students in local communities.
Students study abroad after completing their first year, for either a semester or for the academic year, usually during their junior year. In extraordinary circumstances, students may study abroad during the sophomore or senior year. Students who study abroad on a college approved program during the academic year receive the same financial aid package, scholarships, and grants that would be provided were they to remain on the Muhlenberg campus.
Students interested in study abroad programs should consult with their faculty advisor and the Office of Global Education (OGE) staff during their first year and the fall semester of their sophomore year. To apply for study abroad, students first complete a Muhlenberg College Study Abroad application and submit the needed materials. Once approved to study abroad by Muhlenberg’s OGE, students complete host institution application. Detailed information regarding admission procedures, transfer credit, and the fee structure are available from the Office of Global Education and can be located on the respective websites.
