1 course unit This course considers the relationship between international relations, statecraft, and ethics through an examination of the just war tradition in Western political thought. The moral arguments of both ancient and contemporary theorists of just war will be examined along with their application to modern conflicts such as World Wars I and II, Vietnam, and the Persian Gulf War. Prerequisite(s): PSC 103 Introduction to Comparative Politics & International Relations or IST 101 Introduction to International Studies. Meets general academic requirement HU (and W when offered as 357).
