MTH 353 - CUE: Landmarks of Mathematics1 course unit This course examines major developments in mathematics of historical importance from ancient through modern times. Concepts from geometry, algebra, calculus, analysis, number theory, and modern mathematics are analyzed in historical and cultural contexts, including the ancient Mesopotamian, Chinese, Egyptian, Greek and Indian civilizations, the medieval Islamic caliphate, and modern Europe and the Americas. Prerequisite(s): MTH 240 Transition to Abstract Mathematics .
