Course unit(s):1 Prerequisite(s):THR 250 Acting Process, THR 219 Creativity & Collaboration, THR 220 Stage Management I,or ENG 207 Introduction to Playwriting; or permission of the instructor Concepts of Directing is an introduction to collective performance making with an emphasis on the role of the director. In a laboratory setting, we explore key concepts, including eventhood, media and techniques of composition, and collaborative process. Students will also read theories and philosophy of directing and practice critical skills through a variety of writing practices and group discussion of performance pieces.
