This course introduces students to the institutions and processes of American government and to the current possibilities and limitations of democratic politics. Students will explore and critically evaluate the philosophical underpinnings of the US Constitution; the design and functioning of political institutions; the nature of citizenship and political participation; and the shifting fortunes of contemporary political parties, interest groups, and media.
