ENG 240, 241 - The Nature of Narrative Course unit(s): 1 Meets GAR (students beginning prior to Fall 2024): Meets general academic requirement HU. Meets requirement: W when offered as 241 This course will explore the forms and functions of primarily prose narratives with particular attention to structure, point of view, and narrative conventions of time, space, plot, character, and “realism”. Different versions of the course will vary in focus and emphasis: some may survey a variety of forms and genres (short story, novel, memoir, autobiography) while others may concentrate on one or two of these. Satisfies departmental Prose requirement.
