Modern theories of atomic and molecular structure, from the subatomic to the macroscopic level, are covered at an advanced level, with an emphasis on relationships between structure and properties. Particular emphasis is given to symmetry, coordination chemistry, and descriptive chemistry of the elements. Three hours of lecture and four hours of laboratory per week.
