1 course unit This course examines the science of human motion with particular emphasis on the biomechanics of dance. Course content covers the human skeletal system; joint biomechanics relevant to dance; muscle origin, insertion, and action; and the role gravity plays in muscle action. Analysis of physical structure, function, and dynamic alignment as they relate to performance enhancement and injury prevention are investigated. Prerequisite(s): BIO 102 Concepts of Biology: Biology of Movement or BIO 151 Principles of Biology II: Cells & Organisms.
