1 course unit This course surveys the traditional culture and history of Japan down to the beginning of modernization. Major topics are the court culture, the samurai, and the culture of the townspeople. Appropriate for students with no prior college level history. Meets general academic requirement D or H and effective Fall 2013 DE and HU.
